Gogol’s sites in Kaniv District Bus, car itineraries: Kaniv - Prokhorivka – Kaniv In mid-1830 M. Gogol travelling from his family estate in village Vasylivka (Mirgorodsky district) visited his friend M. Maxymovych in village Prokhorivka. Probably here Gogol made the plot of the story 'Viy, which topography is very similar to Prokhorivka. In honour of his friend, Maksymovych called 250-year pine tree near his estate - Gogol’s pine tree.
Built around 1709 and was part of Bubnovskoyi hundreds. Reconstructed in 1991
