I need to alter your #2. Not just Publix subs (although, of course, now I'm crnavig one) but Publix in general. I don't know about you, but there are NO grocery stores in Colorado that even COMPARE to Publix. So clean, so neat, so friendly. So many different brand choices. Never in my life did I think I would miss a grocery store chain, but I do.The food in Orlando I miss. Now, grant you, I'm pregnant so food is always foremost on my mind, but I miss a number of the great local places. Like Tijuana Flats (used to only be in Winter Park but we had one move really close to us), Subs Plus (REALLY miss them!), Bubbalou's Bodacious Barbecue (memories?) To me, all of these are comfort food. I'm sure I'm leaving out others.I also miss that you could shop and find ANYTHING you could EVER need in Orlando. With the plethora of outlet malls, you were never lacking for anything. Now that I have children, I miss that Disney was a stone's throw away and, as a local, you could just go for a few hours, then go home, and you didn't have to feel like you were missing out on anything. Hell, you could always go back tomorrow! But mostly I miss the people. After 13 years, we'd made a lot of close friends and had known them for a number of years. And, like you, at least when we decided to move, I was pretty much done with the place as well. I didn't want Piper to go to public school there, not after teaching there for 9 years, and it was expensive and we had a small house, blah, blah, blah. But when it actually came to leaving, I had a much harder time than I thought I would. I spent all of my formative adult years in Orlando. I was 22 when I got there and I was 35 when we left. I basically grew up there. And I miss it. My current job is still in Orlando, even though I'm physically in Colorado. I guess it's my way of still holding on to that little piece. But thanks for the trip down memory lane!!!
